Hello, we’re The Green House Growers

We’ve been growing fresh food since 1977, beginning as a small family business with just over 1ha of tomatoes. Now we have 45ha across our nurseries in Sussex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

Over the years we’ve become known for the best quality and for pioneering sustainability. Our team has over 300 years of combined experience in growing the best tasting, freshest food.

We’ve always been at the forefront of reducing environmental impact, whether that is using bumblebees for production or taking care of every drop of water we use. Most recently at our nurseries in Norwich and Ely, we’ve become one of the first growers to use waste heat from water treatment plants and reservoirs, reducing carbon footprint by up to 60%.

We now account for nearly 20% of tomatoes and 25% of cucumbers grown in the UK.

I Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for reminding of my Dad’s large tomato greenhouse where as a child I would go and pick tomatoes for my teatime sandwiches (EVERY afternoon). Just got your tomatoes with my Sainsbury’s order today and your tomatoes are just fabulous, OMG the smell of the vine alone is just wonderful. So evocative. Remember watering Dad’s vines and the smell that came off was just glorious… Happy days, thanks for evoking the memories xx

Today was a very special day. By pure chance I picked up a pack of your Ruby Jewel Plum Tomatoes, variety Sunshine. What a total joy! It reminded me of tomatoes years ago, beautiful flesh and minimal seeds. Most of the tomatoes I have bought from Sainsbury’s are much of a muchness so I rarely even check the pack other than to make sure it’s British. I am not a tomato connoisseur by any means and normally accept supermarket tomatoes over the years have lost a lot of their taste and that is just the way it is. So thank you, I will definitely look out for these in future and check the packs to see if I can try other tomatoes from your nursery.

Thank you for the most amazing Tomatoes. I have never eaten such a wonderfully ripe tomato, so red and so full of flavour. I doubt any other tomato will ever compare! You will have definite repeat business from me for sure.

Just one bite of the delicious Sainsbury’s Vittoria tomatoes and I could taste a summer day in my grandfathers garden. By far the tastiest tomatoes around full of Health natural flavours. These are my new go to snack. I don’t know how they have done it.

Good Morning Purchased your Ruby Jewel Plum (sunshine) tomatoes from Sainsbury’s. Absolutely beautiful, best tomatoes we’ve tasted in years . Will definitely buy again, in fact making the trip again purely to buy more.

I have been buying your tomatoes throughout the season (when available) at my local Tesco store in Bedfordshire. I have been very impressed with both the flavour and quality of the tomatoes. I worked with tomatoes on a Bedfordshire smallholding in my youth (I am now 70) and can see and taste that you really know how to grow high quality produce, far superior to the Dutch-grown tomatoes which are unfortunately to be seen on most supermarket shelves these days. The Dutch tomatoes are all too often under-ripe, virtually tasteless and picked without the calyx which does not help with presentation.

Thank you very much for growing tomatoes which taste and look good – and I look forward to them being available again next year.

Yummylicious
Have had these from the same grower in the UK for at least 15 weeks via delivery.
They have been constantly good, small, sweet and juicy.
They are like tomatoes used to be. Thank you.
